- Fishing at Kingscote Jetty: For keen anglers, the jetty in Kingscote often yields a catch of Tommy ruff, garfish, King George whiting, and snook.
- Local Beach (Free shuttle, 8 miles): Take advantage of the free shuttle to a nearby beach area, located 8 miles from Penneshaw, for some relaxation or a stroll along the coast.
- Flinders Chase National Park Attractions: Popular sites like Admirals Arch and the Remarkable Rocks are found within Flinders Chase National Park. New Zealand Fur Seals can be observed under Admirals Arch. Note that independent transport to these locations is not provided by the public shuttle system, so visiting them typically requires a cruise-organized excursion or pre-arranged private tour.

Weather
Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island shares the island's Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers from December to February when temperatures typically range from 68°F to 86°F (20°C to 30°C) and mild, wet winters. The exposed coastal position means sea breezes are common, so packing light layers and a windbreaker alongside sun protection is recommended. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring the rocky headlands and wildlife areas near the port.
