Harvest Caye BelizeCruise Port Guide
Getting Around from the Port
As Harvest Caye is a private island resort, all activities and amenities are located directly on the island, within easy walking distance of the cruise ship pier. There is no need for external transportation like taxis, shuttles, or rental cars, as there are no nearby towns or external attractions to visit. All excursions and experiences are contained within the island's boundaries.
Attractions and Activities
Harvest Caye offers a wide array of activities, all accessible on the island:
- The Flighthouse Aerial Activities: This 130-foot tall central hub is the starting point for various adventures. Guests can enjoy zip lining across the island, navigate challenging suspension bridges, or experience free fall jumps. The zip line course alone spans over 3,000 feet, featuring three different platforms and even a tandem "superman" style zip line, offering stunning views of the island and the mainland.
- Ropes Course: Located on a platform within the saltwater lagoon, the Flighthouse also hosts a fun and challenging ropes course for those looking for a different kind of adventure.
- Watersports Lagoon: For a more relaxed experience, guests can enjoy non-motorized watersports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing in the island's shallow lagoon area.
- Nature Center and Butterfly Garden: The island features a dedicated nature center where visitors can see local wildlife including boa constrictors, toucans, and scarlet macaws. An enclosed butterfly garden offers a serene and educational experience.
- Beach and Pool Access: Enjoy the expansive seven-acre sand beach or relax by the large 15,000-square-foot pool.
Dining & Shopping
Harvest Caye offers several dining and beverage options on the island. A prominent choice is the LandShark Bar & Grill, a two-story eatery that provides both air-conditioned indoor seating and open-air areas overlooking the main pool. The menu primarily features items like burgers. It's important to note that, unlike some other private cruise line islands, meals purchased at venues like the LandShark Bar & Grill will incur an additional cost and are not included in your cruise fare. Beyond this main restaurant, the island boasts a total of five dining and beverage venues to choose from. While specific shops aren't detailed, souvenir and basic necessity shopping options are typically available at such private island destinations.
Weather
Harvest Caye has a warm tropical climate with temperatures between 75°F and 88°F (24°C to 31°C) year-round. The main cruise season runs October through April during the drier months when the private island's beaches and water sports are at their best. Pack lightweight swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, and a light rain jacket as brief tropical showers can occur even in the dry season.
Currency and Language
The official currency accepted on Harvest Caye is the US Dollar (USD).
