- Praia do Futuro: For swimming and enjoying the beach, head to Praia do Futuro by taxi. It's advisable to avoid the somewhat polluted beach areas in the Meireles hotel sector. When you arrive, try to find a popular "barraca" (an open-air restaurant or bar) to ensure you have amenities and a lively atmosphere. Note that beaches generally become more active after 5 pm when temperatures cool.
- Coastal Beach Day-Trips: Fortaleza is a popular base for day-trips to stunning beaches located along the coast to both the east and west. Numerous local travel agencies, minivan operators, and dune-buggy services near the Meireles tourist office can arrange these excursions.
