Speyer GermanyCruise Port Guide
Getting Around from the Port
Rhine cruise ships dock approximately 1.5km northwest of the city center, requiring a 20-minute walk along the Rhine promenade or a short taxi/shuttle ride (~€5–8). The Cathedral and historic center are very walkable once you arrive. The Technik Museum is close to the dock area. City bus lines connect the port to the Altstadt. The historic Altstadt is flat and walkable.

Local Brezel (pretzels) from the bakeries. The Brezeln and Palatinate wine are the signature souvenirs. Saturday market on Maximilianstraße. Wine merchants near the cathedral sell Palatinate Riesling at excellent prices.
Weather
Speyer on the Rhine is a river cruise destination visited from spring to fall with warm central European summer temperatures between 68–82°F (20–28°C). Continental weather brings warm days and occasional rain, so a light layer and packable umbrella are always useful. The magnificent Speyer Cathedral, the largest surviving Romanesque church in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the unmissable highlight of this historic German city.
