Upon arrival in Poros, cruise ships anchor just offshore, and passengers are brought ashore by tender boats. This charming Greek island offers a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for independent exploration within an 8-10 hour port call.

Getting Around from the Port

The port area serves as the town center, making most of it easily walkable. To reach the Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, which is 4km east of the main town, a moderately fit person can expect an approximately one-hour walk.

For public transport, two bus lines operate from a common terminus located right at the port. These buses provide service to the monastery and also to Neorion. Fares are moderate. Be aware that bus timings are generally predictable, but during lunchtime, when schoolchildren are dismissed, buses can sometimes experience delays.

Taxis are another convenient option. Grey taxis are available on the island and are reasonably priced. A taxi ride from the port (town center) to the monastery should cost around 6 Euros, plus a tip.
