Dining & Shopping
Explore the local restaurants and coffee shops in Sabang. Don't miss the opportunity to try the traditional Acehnese coffee, a local specialty. When eating, you might notice that eating with hands is common in Indonesia. If you wish to try, use only your right hand, as the left hand is used for personal hygiene. Do not put your hand directly into communal serving dishes; instead, use serving utensils to place food on your plate first. Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after eating. If cutlery is provided and others are using it, it's generally best to follow suit, especially in more upscale establishments.
Weather
Sabang enjoys an equatorial tropical climate with consistently warm temperatures year-round, typically ranging from 77°F to 88°F (25–31°C). The drier months from May to October offer the best conditions for cruising, with calmer seas and more sunshine around this westernmost island of Indonesia. Brief heavy tropical showers can occur at any time of year, so pack lightweight breathable clothing, sun protection, insect repellent, and a compact umbrella.
