Miyakojima JapanCruise Port Guide
Getting Around from the Port
The Miyakojima Cruise Terminal is located approximately 2-3 km from the center of Hirara, the island's main town. Walking to the town center would take about 20-30 minutes, but the route might not be the most scenic.
Taxis: Taxis are available at the port. A ride into Hirara town center costs approximately ¥800-¥1,200 (5-10 minutes). For exploring the island's attractions, a taxi is convenient but can add up. A full-day taxi charter might cost ¥20,000-¥30,000.
Rental Cars: Renting a car is the most recommended and practical option for independent exploration of Miyakojima, given that the main attractions are spread across the island. Several rental car agencies have counters or shuttle services near the port or in Hirara. Prices typically range from ¥5,000-¥10,000 per day, depending on the car size and duration. An international driving permit is required.
Public Buses: Public bus services operate on Miyakojima, but routes are limited, and frequency is low, making them impractical for cruise passengers with limited time.
