The town is connected by a large canal to Middelburg and further to the inland Veerse Meer lake.

Cruise ships dock at the Buitenhaven, which is conveniently located just footsteps away from the train station. The town center of Vlissingen is approximately a 15-minute walk from the cruise pier.

When planning your shopping, be aware that in most cities and villages across Zeeland, Sunday is strictly observed as a day of rest, and many shops will be closed. Middelburg offers a pedestrianized shopping area, and Goes is known for its market, particularly on Tuesdays.
