Borgholm is a tender port located on Öland, a sparsely populated island off the Swedish coast. Öland is primarily characterized by farmland, with some wooded areas in the north, and is connected to the mainland by the 6 km Öland Bridge, which opened on September 30, 1972. The city of Borgholm is best known for its once-magnificent but now ruined fortress. Just a couple of kilometers outside the city center is Solliden Palace, the official summer residence of the Swedish Royal Family.

Getting Around from the Port

As a tender port, you'll arrive by boat directly into Borgholm. The town center and its main attractions, such as the Borgholm Castle Ruin, are within easy reach. Solliden Palace, the royal summer residence, is located a couple of kilometers from the city center. For exploring the wider island of Öland, taking the bus is the most convenient method. Buses cover most of the island, allowing access to various interesting sights and beautiful beaches, often within biking distance. It's recommended to bring a bike, as passengers are allowed to transport bikes on the buses. This allows for flexible exploration of Öland's unique landscape, with very nice biking trails available along the long coast.
