Icy Strait Point is a unique, privately-owned cruise destination in Southeast Alaska, developed specifically for cruise ship visitors. A dock has been in operation since May 2016, with a second pier added by Norwegian Cruise Line in 2020, allowing ships to dock directly. The 7,000-square-foot Adventure Center at the dock serves as a welcome point, departure lounge, and tour booking center. The port is located just 1 mile from Hoonah, the largest Tlingit Native settlement, and about 22 miles from Glacier Bay National Park.
Getting Around from the Port
From the cruise dock, you can reach the nearby town of Hoonah by walking approximately 1.5 miles on a flat, scenic path. Alternatively, a bus service is available from the port to Hoonah. Hoonah offers a few local shops and places to eat, though internet access there can be quite pricey.
