Galveston Cruise Port Guide
Galveston, Texas, is a popular cruise destination known for its historic downtown and extensive beaches. Cruise ships dock at one of three terminals: Terminal 1 at 2502 Harborside Drive, Terminal 2 at 2702 Harborside Drive, and the newer Royal Caribbean Terminal 10, operational since September 2022 and designed to accommodate Oasis-class ships. The port is within fair walking distance of the city center and beaches.
Important Note: Be aware of new Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission import taxes on alcohol and cigarette purchases made during your cruise, whether from foreign ports or onboard duty-free shops. Tax collection points are located in Terminals 1 and 2 near the U.S. Customs secondary checkpoint. During peak debarkation hours, taxis can be in high demand, so be prepared for potential waits as cabs return to the terminals.
Getting Around from the Port
The port is a fair walk to town and the beaches, though walking is not advised in all neighborhoods, especially outside the historic district, The Strand, and Harborside.
Taxis: Expect high demand and potential waits for taxis during peak debarkation times. Airport Transfers:

- Galveston Limousine also offers frequent service from both major airports.
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH): Located approximately 70 miles away, a taxi ride costs about $55 and takes around 1.5 hours.
