Galveston United StatesCruise Port Guide
Getting Around from the Port
The port is a fair walk to town and the beaches, though walking is not advised in all neighborhoods, especially outside the historic district, The Strand, and Harborside.
Taxis: Expect high demand and potential waits for taxis during peak debarkation times. Airport Transfers:
- Cruise lines often provide motor coach services to and from Galveston cruise terminals, available as part of air/sea packages or for individual purchase.
- Galveston Limousine also offers frequent service from both major airports.
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH): Located approximately 70 miles away, a taxi ride costs about $55 and takes around 1.5 hours.

It's recommended to drop off luggage at the terminal first, as parking lots are about half a mile away. Shuttle buses are provided from the parking areas to the terminals. Public Transit: Island Transit services have been modified due to past hurricane damage; check for current operational information if planning to use public buses.
